There is a place for you! What things need to be done? - There are many kinds of volunteer projects, from out door tasks to office work, assisting with social events and fundraising, or to marketing and communication activities. Even the kids can help! What ever your skill, interest or age, we will all strive to make your investment of time with us productive, rewarding and .....yes, you guessed it FUN. Click here to view a sampling of club volunteer positions We work behind the scenes to clear brush, put up signs, stuff newsletter mailings, visit landowners, attend organizational meetings, or work at our computers. There is a lot more to running a successful club that many riders imagine. It's all about snowmobliers helping fellow snowmobiliers. We make a point of valuing every contribution, big or small. We can find a place for you in our club; a place that will match your time availability. If you are not sure you feel confident about how to do some of the tasks, not to worry - learning new things first hand is half the fun and there are free online courses for many positons at our club volunteer training site called VOLTS. Being a Trail Patroller is a great way to help out and go snowmobiling to! The Patroller's ride their sleds to check the trails while acting as good will ambassadors. Visit the Trail Patrol secton of the website.
What positions are currently available? - It is best to contact the District Volunteer Coordinator or your local club to find out exactly what they need help with. Remember that some tasks can be completed "virtually" by completing data entry, website updates, communication and marketing projects, or other necessary work on your computer at home. It is fair to say that many clubs at certain times of the year are very busy setting up trail and may not respond as promptly as they would like to your inquiries about what assistance is required...... be persistent, and if you do not hear back from a club please contact the District Volunteer Coordinator. Every club would appreciate more help; it is our goal to ensure that as quickly as possible you are communicating with a club and an appropiate volunteer assignment, matched to your time and insterests, is offered to you. People-People: Currently in addition to the obvious outdoor tasks and roles, many clubs are requiring folks that have great people focused skills to fill a variety of positions. Several clubs are currently recruiting Volunteer Coordinators. While organized snowmobiling is powered by permits, it is important to remember that it is "Driven By Volunteers" and so the contributions made by Volunteer Coordinators are invaluable. If you are interested in learning more, contact the district volunter coordinator in your area or email volunteer@ofsc.on.ca
